Loteria: Setting up the Dealer Table

Posted on May 9, 2019  in Games, Loteria

It's been a bit since my last post, I know. I've been busy with job interviews, freelance jobs, and work with some other teams I'm involved in. I want to get back to posting at least once a week again, this way the game is always progressing somewhat.

Console Dealer Scene

Okay, enough about my life. This update gets to what the game really is, Loteria! I've created the dealer scene that would show up on the console side and that the mobile players can watch for the caller's cards. I found some textures to put in the background to kind of give a classic Loteria game night kind of feel (although I'll probably end up changing them). I also placed the dealer cards in the center blown up to large proportions for everyone to see.

Lastly, the player's selected tablas can be seen along the sides of the table. While, it is not fully set up yet, eventually I plan to have each mobile player's actions visible on these tablas on the console screen. I'll explain below.

Mobile Game Scene

On the mobile player's side, they will see a tabla and some beans to be used as tokens. As of now, I have written code to allow the player to move around the beans and place them on the loteria tablas. However, my goal is to make this visible on the console side too, that way other player's can see how well you are doing on the big screen.

Also, this part of the game still has not been connected to the console through the server, so that will probably be my next update. Right now, both sections run locally with some virtual actions being simulated from the other respective parts.

As always, thanks for taking the time to read!
